The Salon Dore at the Legion of Honor

An eighteenth-century gilded room from a noble Parisian house was painstakingly restored to its former glory at the Legion of Honor Museum in San Francisco. Phoenix Day worked closely with museum curator Martin Chapman and other craftspeople, to restore the original chandeliers, wall sconces, and torchÈres. With the addition of up-to-date, state-of-the art LED lamping, the salon is a perfect example of an 18th century neo-classical period room.

The Transamerica Building

Phoenix Day was invited by the Shvo development firm to help with the lighting restoration of the historic Transamerica Pyramid building in San Francisco. The original Brutalist style exterior fixtures were reproduced and updated with state-of-the art LED lamping. Original photographs were used to reproduce the glass cube bollards in the adjacent Redwood Park. Newly designed fixtures were also fabricated for the entries, along with fixtures for the new 48th Floor Lounge.

The Castro Theater

In 1937, Phoenix Day was part of the original remodel of the historic Castro Theater in San Francisco. Phoenix Day fabricated many of the original light fixtures designed at that time by architect Timothy L. Pflueger. Phoenix Day was approached to help with the current restoration of the Castro Theater. We will be restoring and repairing the original fixtures, including the historic main chandelier, and installing new state-of-the art LED lamping. Phoenix Day is proud to be part of this important restoration project.
